Thank you for your interest in St. Fiacre Gardens! My name is Seraphim and I’ve spent the last 4 years honing my skills in the field. I try to use methods that were the standard before industrialization, with a commitment to using only inputs (fertilizers, etc.) provided to us by the natural world. My commitment is also to the land where I was born: Northwest Michigan. I’m originally from Interlochen but I grow in Kalkaska at the moment and am still looking for that forever spot. Every year I add to my repertoire but right now I offer a nice variety of vegetables throughout the growing season. (Check out the CSA page to learn more.)
My hope is that I am able to provide my locale with a variety of fresh, wholesomely grown food and to have all my work dedicated to neighbor and Creator. If you have any questions regarding my growing practices, product or anything else, please reach out at smwinkler@Proton.me.
St. Fiacre (fya-kruh) of Breuil
Our Heavenly patron, St. Fiacre of Breuil, was born in 600 AD in Ireland. He began his monastic life there and his renown grew as one who wrought miracles through the healing properties of herbs. Desiring greater solitude, he moved to Meaux, France in 628. There he built a cell to live a life of ascetism and vigil and cultivated herb and vegetable gardens, both to heal and feed those in need. Soon other monastics gathered around him and a monastery was formed. He left this earthly life in 670, having lived a life worthy of Paradise. May we have his prayers!
